Adding a New Website Monitor
To create a monitor, from Dashboard click the New button in the top right corner or from left side navigation menu, click on Monitors > Websites > New button.
Step-1. Basic Details:
Provide a friendly identifier in the Name field (e.g., Company Main Website). In the URL field, enter the full address including the protocol (e.g., (https://example.com)).
Step-2. Set the Check Interval:
Use the Interval dropdown to decide how frequently Veyon checks your site. Options range down to 1 minute for real-time tracking on Paid plans and 5 minutes on Free plan.
Step-3. Configure Expiry Alerts:
Set up proactive warnings for your web assets:
- SSL certificate monitoring: Choose how many days before your SSL certificate expires to receive an alert.
- Domain name monitoring: Choose how many days before your domain registration expires to receive an alert.
Step-4. Define Trigger Conditions:
Under Alert condition, choose what rules flag the site as down. By default, this is set to URL becomes unavailable (e.g., when the server returns a 5xx error code or fails to respond). There are other options like URL response contains text, and URL response does not contain text.
Step-5. Assign Alert Channels:
Click the + button under Alert channels to select where notifications should be routed (Email, SMS, Slack, Discord, etc.) when an incident occurs.
Step-6. Save and Launch:
Review your configurations and click the blue Save button at the bottom left to initialize the monitor.
Advanced Settings (Optional)
For complex environments, internal tools, or API endpoints, you can expand the advanced configuration accordions at the bottom of the page before saving your monitor.
Request Settings
Click this panel to customize the structural payload Veyon sends during its monitoring pings:
- Method: A dropdown to select the HTTP request method. By default, this is set to GET, but you can adjust it to match your target endpoint's requirements (e.g., POST, HEAD).
- Headers: Click the + button to attach custom HTTP headers to each request. This is essential for passing API keys, custom
User-Agentstrings, or content types. - HTTP authentication: If your staging site or endpoint is shielded behind basic server authentication, provide the authorized Username and Password here. You can click the visibility icon to securely reveal or hide the password string.
- Cache buster: When enabled, Veyon automatically appends a unique, randomized string to the end of the URL during every check. This forces your network to bypass any cached states on CDNs or proxies, ensuring you are reading the live, real-time status of the server.
Maintenance
Click this panel to suppress alarms during planned infrastructure upgrades:
- Period (Start & End): Use the interactive calendar fields to select the exact date and time window (
dd-mm-yyyy, --:-- --) for your scheduled maintenance. - Alert Suppression: During this specified duration, Veyon explicitly pauses monitor checks and suppresses all outgoing alerts, ensuring your on-call team isn't flooded with notifications while you perform intentional updates.
